An annual first aid specific risk assessment should be carried out to assess the provision requirements. The annual Review should be carried out prior to the start of the season or academic year, with policy, schemes of work and on-going review being updated as appropriate.
Schools and colleges may complete this as part of a wider sport and/or first aid provision assessment. However, it is recommended that schools/colleges refer and comply with the RFU’s first aid and immediate care minimum operation standards. They might wish to complete and record a risk assessment to determine the appropriate level of activity and first aid provision.
The RFU’s online Risk Assessment Tool provides information and templates for completing first aid and other rugby activity related risk assessments.
