It is testament to the hard work of everyone that has enabled England Rugby to have six officials at the tournament
- Wayne Barnes and Luke Pearce are Referees
- Matthew Carley and Karl Dickson are Assistant Referees
- Graham Hughes and Rowan Kitt are TMOs
This is Wayne’s 4th World Cup, and Graham’s 3rd, and Luke, Matthew and Karl will be starting off on a new World Cup journey together
At the last World Cup we were fortunate to interview Luke. At that time he said that one of his best memories was as a young referee at World Sevens Series in Las Vegas in 2014. Of the experience he said, “It makes you realise that you are good enough to get those games if you work hard enough. It’s the confidence boost it gives you, that pushes you further into your career.”
You certainly did that Luke, and we bet that even better memories are waiting for you in Japan!
You can watch the interview with Luke in the Video Library. You’ll find it in the Referees on Refereeing section on p.4
We’re looking forward to seeing you all in action in the autumn. Thank you for the leadership and inspiration you give to next generation of referees.
