Laura began her refereeing career in Kent at the age of 17 after completing a referee course and was very quickly selected for Kent Referees’ Society’s Development squad. Whilst studying to become a PE teacher she has worked hard over these few years to develop as a referee.  She had become a respected referee in Kent amongst many clubs before she left Maidstone for Northampton to start her teaching career.

Having already officiated as an assistant referee Pettingale got her match official appointments in November 2018.

“The RFU has given me most of the opportunities I have had throughout my refereeing career,” she said.

“They have sent me to different countries to referee and gave me a professional referee mentor last year. Key people within the referee development team have also helped and supported me by giving me advice, ideas and feedback to help me improve my refereeing.”
