Leading the session were three experts in the field, all senior Lancashire XV Bill Beaumont Cup
winners: Alex Loney, Nick Flynn and Phil Mills. They covered scrum engagement, lineout and loose play for props and hookers. There was also a session on building an 8-man scrum with some excellent detail imparted.
The Lancashire Development Centre worked closely with England Rugby Community Rugby Coaches Paul Arnold and Aaron Howorth who had identified the need for the session in the local area.
Lancashire RFU Development Centre Manger Mark Nelson said: “The session at Rochdale, which has superb facilities, is a great example of the work the county is doing in developing coaches and players at the clubs. It’s exciting that we worked closely with RFU CRCs for this event and, following its success, I will be looking to stage more sessions of this nature.”
