“It’s great being able to spread the sport I love in an area of London where it’s quite uncommon.”

What was it that got you into coaching?

On graduating from junior rugby in 2014, I want to give some back to the club. I’ve always been interested in helping where I can and coaching means I can help even more people.  I took my Level 1 and not only do I coach our U16s, I coach disabled young people as well as boy and girls who might not have much opportunity to play rugby.

What’s the most rewarding thing about coaching?

It’s great being able to spread the sport I love in an area of London where it’s quite uncommon. The Haringey Rhinos is the only club in Haringey so I love to see the involvement of so many boys and girls from lots of different ethnic minorities. I love the fact that I plan and deliver my own sessions as well as support other young coaches who want to get involved.

One of my favourite photos is the last picture of me and my U14s after our last game together.

It makes me laugh because I was injured at the time so spent the game on crutches on the side lines. I jumped in for the photo after the game but I’m the only one not in kit. The photo is full of some really happy memories.

Tell us about the team you coach?

The main teams I coach are the Haringey Rhinos U16s (about to become U17s) and O2 Touch. I also deliver inclusive rugby for young people with learning difficulties in Haringey.

What’s coaching done for you personally?

It’s made me happy, given me confidence, given me a job and I’ve made loads of friends.
