What was it that got you into refereeing?

To further my understanding of the game and to help me appreciate the value of the referees.

What’s the most rewarding thing about being a referee?

Coming to the realisation that referees are valued and appreciated by players, coaches, and spectators alike. Also knowing that I have contributed to the development and enjoyment of the players.

This was the first scrum at the first match I ever refereed.

Tell us about your local refereeing society

The Warwickshire Society of Referees has made me feel welcome from the start. It is extremely well organised and includes Young Whistlers in a great number of social and development activities.

What’s refereeing done for you personally?

It has hugely improved my personal confidence and taught me many lessons that I will be able to use away from the rugby environment.
